„Perhaps our small towns, with their memory, may be the antidote to the madness, to the flattening, to the levelling of modern culture.“
Mario Botta, Monselice, 31.5.2009
The area taken up by the fountain is in front of the old church of San Paolo in Monselice. The numerous changes brought about over the years had profoundly altered the area. The project redesigns the site where a loggia and the old town hall once stood, to make a water sheet crossed by paths and places of rest with an olive tree in its centre. The revival of traces from the past, like the polygonal staircase, and the contemporary configuration achieved by the use of a grey trachyte stone, outline a particular public area that acts as the mending of a complex and heterogeneous urban fabric.
