On a small plot at the junction of Vratislavice and Liberec, we designed a compact three-story house. Thanks to the location and spatial layout of the house, the young investors have access to the largest possible area of the garden, a beautiful view of Ještěd, the relief of the Jizera Mountains, and the water tower by
Leopold Bauer, which is a dominant feature of the whole area. The interior of the house is designed in harmony with the compact and spatial concept of the exterior. The lower part of the house opens to the garden, while the upper floors respond to the views of the surroundings. The interior of the house is composed as a journey, where light moods and spatial experiences alternate. As a counterbalance and material completion of the house, Magnolia Cubus is planted on the southern side of the garden, which will protect the house from sunlight with its branches.
We were pleased with the investors' approach, who first organized an invited competition and subsequently commissioned all project phases, including interior solutions, to the winning architects. The clients also held a competition for the construction company and technical supervision. The selection of contractors was always conducted in the form of interviews with the investor in the presence of the architects. The resulting team was thus able to collaborate excellently and create a quality implementation.
