The basic visual impression for the visitor should be the contrast of the white neutral surroundings with striking graphic elements, whose colors are limited to 4 basic colors. These colors correspond to the 4 bases that make up DNA, which is also reflected in the exhibition graphics. The individual bases are interpreted here as shapes, individual pieces of a construction set that together in various combinations create the resulting organism. The impression of the exhibition thus evokes a clean, laboratory environment, which is in line with the theme of DNA.

Throughout the exhibition, there is a graphic representation of a multimedia line with individual stops. This line also serves as an important conceptual and navigational element that shows the direction of the exhibition. Another element that permeates the entire exhibition is a pattern made up of four simple objects. This principle is inspired by the very structure of the DNA helix, namely from the 4 nucleotides that combine like a construction set. Hence, our motto: DNA - the building block of life. These metaphorical building blocks are primarily differentiated by color, yet they are connected by the shape of variously sized capsules, which represent them in an abstract dimension and are the basic building blocks for other graphic applications—be it a logo, illustrations, or the guiding line on the floor that accompanies the entire exhibition.

The materials used were chosen with regard to this concept. The white walls bordering the exhibition space are made of drywall. This allows for a seamless execution that would disrupt the mentioned impression of a clean, as neutral an environment as possible. The display cases are designed traditionally from MDF with glazing. The floor is made of OSB boards, sanded and multiple coated with white lacquer.
