Bungalow with a pool and high ceiling
Project:2016
Completion:2020
Built Up Area:238 m2

The family house is located in the village of Sulice, which is part of the Prague-East district. The plot on which the house is built is situated on the edge of the new development of the village and smoothly connects to the forested area, providing a pleasant backdrop for the building.

The negatives of the plot can be summarized briefly and ultimately do not pose a significant problem in the final solution. These include mainly the precisely defined traffic connection and the protective zone of the forest.

The clients' wish was for an elegant house with a simply designed interior. The goal was to focus on working with sunlight and choosing the right sides for views.

The house is designed as a single-story spread-out bungalow, offering a living unit characterized as 4 + kk. It is shaped like the letter "L," with one wing oriented to the south and the other to the west.

The southern part is designed as one large room, providing relaxation, dining function, and meal preparation. The western part, on the other hand, offers calm and privacy, housing two rooms and a bedroom with its own dressing room.

The connecting – transitional area is more problematic in terms of sunlight, so it accommodates the operational facilities – a large technical room, home storage, a toilet, a large bathroom, and an entrance vestibule.

Movement inside is facilitated by a wide corridor, which, through the end glazing, seemingly continues outside the house.

Parking is addressed unusually in that there is no garage or carport. Traffic on the property is managed with a paved area.

The house is a combination of two faces. The first, garden-facing, is influenced by roof overhangs, large-format glazing, and façade cladding of wood and stone. These elements together delineate the terrace space, which harmoniously resonates with the aforementioned wooded area.

The second side, the northern and eastern part, brings a significant calming effect regarding glazing and materials. Classic plaster takes over, while stone and wood recede into the background. The construction in this part is less surprising.

Transitions between the two faces are smooth and interconnected, allowing them to work very well together.
