Family house in Doksy near Kladno
Address: Doksy, Czech Republic
Project:2017
Completion:2021
Built Up Area:301 m2
Site Area:1085 m2

Plot
The family house is located in the village of Doksy near Kladno. The building is situated in a quiet village with a pleasant environment and excellent transport accessibility to Prague and Kladno.
The plot on which the construction was realized borders the area designated for new development. The western edge of the plot also borders parcels from the original development.
The parcel, with an area of 1085 m², is of a longitudinal character. The longer side follows the west-east axis, thus offering a sufficiently generous area with access to southern sunlight.

Concept and Solution
The house consists of three simple volumes with a gable roof, one of which forms the second floor while also covering the entrance to the house and the terrace. An unconventional expression of the building was achieved by shifting the roof ridges to avoid inappropriate detailing solutions concerning roof drainage. The character of the house is also emphasized by the implementation of hidden gutter channels.
In relation to the existing buildings, the construction is located in the eastern part of the plot, leaving the western part free and unshaded by the surroundings.

Idea
The interspersed volumes stretch from east to west, primarily stemming from the shape of the plot, where the depth is significantly greater than the width.
Another impetus was the investor's request to use wood to make the entrance area to the house more pleasant, while great emphasis was placed on the terrace space. The volume of the second floor thus connects the whole house, and its wooden ceiling is the element that makes the entrance cozier. At the same time, the wooden ceiling continues further into the house, creating a line that runs through the entire house, leading users from the entrance, through the living area to the terrace. The wooden cladding thus serves as an element connecting the entire house.
The layout solution is based on the main line of the house, leading from the entrance towards the terrace and further to the pool and garden. This creates an interesting view from the vestibule to the very end of the garden. Additional functions gradually adhere to this line. The service part of the house is connected to the vestibule, followed by a hall, which provides access to the other rooms and the second floor, where the quiet part of the house is located. The orientation towards the southern sun and the positioning of the daily rooms towards the garden is essential.
The façade solution reacts to the shape of the volumes of the house; the ground floor is treated subtly, plastered in white and dark gray. The second floor is highlighted with a metallic cladding in brown tones. The vertically oriented cladding helps to clearly define the space below it and visually shortens the upper volume. The window openings in the horizontal direction reflect the wishes of the investor and the character of the object itself.
