Concrete House Ořechov

Concrete House Ořechov
The profession of the owner of this house is closely linked to concrete. Therefore, it is no surprise that the assignment was a house made of concrete. Everything was subordinated to this. Concrete is simple, clean, fundamental, straightforward, readable...
And so is the house. Modest, elegant, and neutral. Both in terms of the exterior and the layout.

Concrete permeates the interior walls as well as the facades. The formwork was made from wooden boards, and the entire structure bears the texture of their imprints. As a contrast, "live" wood was designed to compensate for the rawness of concrete and at the same time complements it in this case.
No other materials are significantly represented here. Wood is used where the inhabitants relax and the children play. Everywhere else, just concrete, again and again.

The house is located in the outskirts of the village, on a corner plot bordered on two sides by roads and on the other two by existing family housing, which it urbanistically fits into.

It consists of a pair of structures – a long, single-story cuboidal mass intended for living and a separate garage. The longitudinal axis of the plot runs in the northwest-southeast direction, with the residential mass of the house placed along this axis in the northeastern part of the plot and opening southwest into the garden. The orientation and placement of the garden maximally relax the space while ensuring favorable light conditions inside the house. Both structures are topped with flat roofs, and the residential mass is raised in the area of the living room.

The standalone house contains one residential unit and is clearly divided into two parts – a social part and a quiet part. This aligns with the external expression of the object, both due to the placement of the garage structure and the character of the outer shell. Between the garage and the quiet part of the house lies a semi-open intimate space, creating the desired privacy.

Communication within the house is facilitated by a straight corridor in the northeastern part of the structure, which feeds into a linearly arranged living rooms. It also leads into the social part of the house, where, in one generously designed room, the living room, dining room, and kitchen are located.

The traffic connection is simply resolved; the garage for two cars is located in immediate proximity to the southwestern boundary of the plot.
