Sports Talents Area

The extension of the grammar school replaces the original inadequate sports facilities. The new building includes two gyms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and a transparent running track, which serves as the best advertisement for future sports talents. The required brief was successfully accomplished on the minimum area available. The uncompromising material solution reflects the essence of functional use.
The proposed structure includes a gymnastics hall on the first basement level, as well as a multi-purpose athletics hall on the second floor. An operational feature of the hall on the second floor is a glass running track. The operation is complemented by changing rooms, offices, and technical facilities.

Technical solution
The lower gymnastics hall is designed as a monolithic structure, while the upper athletics hall, including the running track, is made of steel with a folded shell. The floors are adapted to their functions (gymnastics hall – soft mats, athletics hall – tartan). The halls are partly clad with wood, which contributes to good acoustics in the space. The glass running track provides exceptional comfort, reducing the difference between the outdoor and indoor environments. The extensive green roof is not only ecologically beneficial but also serves as a visually exposed part of the building.
