The Ajala Chocolate Factory has opened its first brick-and-mortar store and chocolate showroom in the center of Brno. The space designed by JUNG architects will serve, among other things, as a venue for themed tastings and workshops that will bring visitors closer to chocolate production from a new perspective.
The newly opened store offers customers the opportunity to taste the entire range of Ajala, learn more about the production process, and purchase products directly from the manufacturer. In the store, Ajala will also offer limited editions of its products intended solely for store customers.
“We wanted to create a place where people can not only buy chocolate but also experience it,” presents the concept of the store Filip Teplý, founder of Ajala Chocolate.
Visitors to the shop will be welcomed by minimalist lines and natural sandy colors on the walls, curtains, and light wood finishes. This creates a perfect backdrop for the playful colored packaging of the chocolates, which also inspired the design of the pleated lighting fixtures.
“The packaging of Ajala chocolates is very colorful and awakens the taste buds. In designing the store, we aimed to support and complement this diversity,” describes the creative process architect Barbara Jung.
A key element of the space is the variable totems, on which chocolate tablets are presented. They can easily be arranged into a display stand, a base for a large tasting table, or individual islands for a chocolate ritual. The totems also serve as storage boxes, so even though it may not seem that way at first glance, chocolate is really hidden everywhere in this seemingly small space.
In short, the new Ajala store wants to be a place for everyone who wants to not only taste chocolate in a beautiful environment but also get to know it.
