‘Small’ as an architectural concept or measure is equally demanding as it is challenging, providing opportunities for simplicity, cost effective solutions, playfulness and experimentation. Dedicated to the subject, this issue examines 17 different small architectural projects, including; Baumschlager Eberle’s Nordwesthaus, Austria; Selgascano’s Studio in Green, Madrid; Valerio Olgiati’s design for their Office, Switzerland; Adjaye Associates’ Sclera. Size and Matter, London; and astearchitecture’s breathtaking viewing platform in Tyrol, Austria. All projects are illustrated with colour photographs, plans and elevations and accompanied by introductory texts. The issue also includes an interview with Mohsen Mostafavi along with a brief look at the dynamic programme offered by the School of Architecture at the University of Talca, Chile.
