Biography
Paul Vermeulen graduated in 1985 in the field of architecture from the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven). As an assistant, he later conducted research in Indonesia (Bandung), Thailand (Bangkok), and Algeria (Algiers). In 1989, he began collaborating with Henk De Smet. Since 1986, he has been writing about architecture and worked as an editor for the magazine Archis from 1996 to 2000. He served as an assistant in design practice at KU Leuven (1991-95, 2000-06) and as an educator at KU Leuven (1994-2006) and TU Delft (2006-07, 2008-14). Since 2007, he has been a member of the advisory board for architectural heritage in Ostend and has chaired the committee for monuments and architecture in Ghent since 2011. In 2011, he received the Flanders Community Prize for Architecture.
