Úvaly (near Prague) - The construction of the Union Primary School Povýmolí in Úvaly near Prague, which is planned to serve 810 children, has received building approval. The school will be built by the Voluntary Association of Municipalities Povýmolí, which includes four other municipalities in addition to Úvaly. At the turn of February and March, the association intends to announce a tender for a construction company, and the school is expected to start being built later this year. The mayor of Úvaly, Markéta Rydvalová (Open Úvaly), informed about this today on the city's facebook.
"At this moment, we are facing the final milestone before the actual construction, which is the selection procedure for the contractor. The actual construction should then start in the second half of this year so that we can welcome the first students already in September 2027," Rydvalová stated.
According to the mayor, the school has been in planning since 2015. The preparations have been accompanied by a number of complications, including challenges to the tender for the designer from one of the tender participants.
The school is expected to cost over one billion crowns, but the exact price will come from the tender. The association of municipalities has been promised a grant of 757 million from the Ministry of Education. The project will also include a sports hall.
Union schools in the Central Bohemian Region are also being established or are in preparation in other locations. For example, a union school in Chýně near Prague is supposed to be completed this year. Before the start of construction, there is a school in Český Brod. The Ministry of Education has supported the construction of schools from the Prstenec program, and discussions are currently underway for its second part, Prstenec II.
