Lanškroun (Orlickoústecko) – Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region has completed a project for a new fire station. It will be built on Dobrovského Street. Volunteer firefighters currently lack adequate facilities and have repeatedly moved in the past, the town hall stated in a press release.

The project has a building permit, and the city is looking for subsidies. The final price will result from a tender process. The construction will be in a gap next to the ambulance service. It will provide modern spaces for the community and educational events of the corps.

"The emphasis on fire engine red on the doors, railings, and garage floor is balanced by natural or neutral shades of wood and concrete," said architect Adam Zezula from the UYO architects studio.

The fire station is designed so that vehicles can quickly and safely exit. The fire yard is shaped like the letter L. There will be areas in front of the garages, six outdoor parking spaces, and a lockable service yard. The garage will accommodate three fire engines and will have space for storing equipment and supplies.

Volunteer firefighters are currently based at the professional station. "The existing facilities at our station are temporary and not entirely sufficient for them," said Aleš Černohorský, the regional fire chief. The freed-up space after the completion of the new station will allow professional firefighters to recruit additional personnel in Lanškroun, Černohorský added.

According to the corps commander Tomáš Klaban, the scope of activities and demands on the technical equipment of volunteer firefighters are increasing. The corps was established in 1869. "Since we only have limited space at the station, it has become clear over time that it is no longer suitable. A site has been identified that will allow the unit to respond within five minutes of the alarm being raised in the future. We have been cooperating with the designers throughout, so the fire station building will be tailor-made," said Klaban.
