One room with a bedroom, kitchen, shower, toilet, and technical room – all of this in just twelve square meters and with an impressive view of the pristine nature of the Jizera Mountains. And as a cherry on top, part of all this is a small terrace that transitions into an endless garden...

At the beginning was the effort to fit the essential things that a person or two need for comfortable overnight stays in nature into the smallest area possible. "We wanted to not only provide a roof over our heads, but also the warmth of a fireplace, essential sanitary facilities, and kitchen comfort. All of this was tailored to ensure that the cabin, which we named Tiny House Done, would perform just as well in a desolate landscape as in a residential area. We particularly emphasized the connection between the indoor space and the outdoor environment," says Ing. arch. Daniel Rohan from the DDAANN studio, who designed the cabin together with his colleague Ing. arch. Daniel Baudis. However, the entire project would not have come to fruition without the vision of Lukáš Otevřel, who had long dreamed of such a tiny house.

The single-story cabin, measuring 2.5 × 5 meters, is designed as a prefabricated wooden construction based on a foundation frame made of spruce KVH beams anchored to the natural terrain using ground screws. Its concept is based on the principle of a building kit so that it can be assembled by two to three people. Therefore, plywood boards made of solid spruce wood are used as the basic material. The weight of individual components is around 80 kilograms. "The prefabricated panels are processed and prepared to furniture standards, so that any moderately skilled DIY enthusiast can easily assemble them with common tools and equipment," describes Ing. arch. Daniel Rohan. The terrace and facade are made of larch wood treated with oil-based glaze. For ventilation, a circular vent has been created in the facade on the northern wall. An aluminum sheet with a fine wave in an anthracite gray shade, which corresponds with the color scheme of the entire building, has been laid on the flat roof with a minimal slope. The front side of the cabin is visually divided by large-format fixed glazing, which, due to the easy installation required due to the high weight of the glass, consists of three separate segments.

In the main glazed portion, which offers views of the surrounding landscape, there is a living space with a bed, a kitchen made of DTD board material with an ash veneer surface, and a stove. Part of the glazing frame includes a hidden curtain rod, which allows for creating privacy in the cabin's interior at any time. A full wall then conceals a toilet capsule with a toilet and shower, as well as a technical room accessible through a separate entrance from outside.

For the entrance door to the living space, the architects chose a minimalist handle with rounded shapes, the DENY model, which has a round rose and a bottom rose with a cylindrical lock – all from the workshop of the Czech manufacturer of designer door fittings M&T, in a surface finish of matte black titanium. "Titanium is a highly durable and currently very popular surface finish that is applied to fittings using a special technology – physical plasma spray deposition. This method ensures perfect adhesion of the thin metal layer to the substrate material of the fitting, which in the case of the DENY handle is stainless steel," says Roman Ulich, the chief designer of M&T, adding: "The titanium surface is characterized by extraordinary hardness, resistance to abrasion and scratching, and color and chemical stability, so it can easily withstand even the demanding mountain environment."

In the case of the Tiny House Done cabin, it is hard to determine where the interior ends and the exterior begins with its boundless garden...
