Readers of Archiweb were informed about the innovative solution of the bus terminal in Nitra immediately after its completion. This year, its qualities were also recognized by the jury of one of the oldest and most prestigious design competitions, the Hanover iF Design Award.

In addition to Nitra, the iF awards were also given to two other projects by Egoé studio. One of them is the catalog Myšlenková dílna, which uses concrete examples to show how solutions for transportation infrastructure are created. In addition, it presents other industrial design products from the Egoé studio workshop. And one of them has received its third iF trophy: it is the camping auto conversion Nestbox, specifically its smallest version called Tramp.

The shape of the continuous roofing of the Nitra terminal is defined by a system of interconnecting shed roofs. Its simplicity and logic stand out thanks to the cladding and careful craftsmanship. No joints or rivets disrupt the perception of the whole.

Egoé studio has been designing transportation infrastructure buildings for almost thirty years. A number of standardized shelters and roofing have been created here, but with each specific project, the solutions are reconsidered, and either the chosen catalog product is modified to be truly customized, or the entire building is designed from scratch, as was the case in Nitra. Designers can thus fulfill all the requirements of the client and at the same time deliver what we associate with Egoé studio – timeless design, simple and pleasant form, visual connection with the surroundings of the building. What is conceived in the studio is then designed and manufactured within the Egoé group. Every project reliably works both in terms of execution and economically.

Nitra is an example of the connection between design and architecture. Design in the service of architecture brings visually interesting functional solutions, but also extends the lifespan of buildings. This is not only due to the quality of materials and workmanship, but primarily because a clean, understated shape doesn’t age and eliminates the need to replace a building due to changing tastes.
