Architect Birgitte Bruun had a recreational property built for herself and her family in Denmark, where everyone can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Together with the architectural office Raw Architects, she created a house that combines an amazing calming sea view in all seasons, maintenance-free materials, and minimalist design. All these requirements were met by a single sliding system Schüco ASS 77 PD.SI (Panorama Design Super Insulation). To achieve maximum peace and relaxation, the client wished to eliminate all gardening work, opting for a maintenance-free outdoor setting without lawns or shrubs, featuring a large cedar wood terrace. www.schueco.cz

The family’s favorite room is the terrace

Birgitte Bruun envisioned a holiday home for herself and her family that would be completely different from their home. The 150 m² coastal property was meant to be an oasis of freedom and tranquility, hidden from the outside world and open to nature. Therefore, the view of the water was particularly important to Birgitte Bruun, as it has a very positive and calming effect on the human psyche, which she did not want to give up even in the colder months. She decided on a solution that connects outdoor and internal spaces. The sliding system Schüco ASS 77 PD.SI offers the family an unrivaled view. The panoramic design of the Schüco ASS 77 PD.SI sliding system features a minimal sight width of profiles in the locking part and also the concealment or embedding of the outer frame and the sash frame into the structure of the house; high operating comfort is ensured by the electronic drive and locking system built directly into the profile. Birgitte Bruun also placed great emphasis on a smooth transition between the living spaces and the terrace, which represents the "favorite room" of the entire family, achieved through a zero threshold. Combined with the façade system Schüco FWS 50.SI, it resulted in an exceptionally well-lit recreational property with large-format windows and an unobstructed view of the sea.

Instead of lawns, maintenance-free cedar wood terraces that age beautifully

Birgitte Bruun and her family spend their free time resting, so from the beginning, the project's goal was to create a practical and simple yet stylish property that is low maintenance. The house's cladding and the terrace floor were made from durable cedar wood, which resists sea salt, requires no painting, and ages beautifully, perfectly fitting into the coastal landscape. The absence of any shrubs or lawns eliminates the need for additional gardening work. Only individual easily maintainable rosehip bushes surround the house. Birgitte Bruun's love for the sea led to the addition of a special feature on the terrace – a so-called "Ibiza corner" in the form of a nook sheltered from the wind, where one can enjoy sleeping outdoors and watching the sunset year-round. In her choice of furniture, Birgitte Bruun remained true to her moderate style. The spartan, minimalist interior is limited to essentials that do not distract from what is important: Free time, relaxation, and tranquility, all with a view of the sea.
