Saint-Gobain Construction Products CZ a.s. Rigips

Rigips, s.r.o., and Saint-Gobain Orsil, s.r.o., are bringing to the market the latest large-span lightweight flat roofs on trapezoidal sheet with a new concept labeled SG COMBI ROOF 30 M and SG COMBI ROOF 30 P with fire resistance REI 30.

The result of corporate cooperation is two new lightweight roofing systems SG COMBI ROOF 30 with main thermal insulation made of expanded polystyrene and fire-separating layers either from large-format Orsil mineral wool boards or from special gypsum-based boards.
The composition of the SG COMBI ROOF 30 P roofing system, which uses special gypsum boards 2 x 12.5 mm thick and expanded polystyrene SG COMBI ROOF, holds the leading position in the Czech Republic and is protected by a utility model.
An important component of these roofs is the design of the support structure of the trapezoidal sheet, the assessment of its static performance in a fire situation, and the resolution of related details.

The materials were selected based on their properties – thermal insulation and excellent fire-resistant properties of mineral wool and gypsum-based boards, with expanded polystyrene having minimal weight, high compressive strength, and also very good insulating properties.

Main advantages of SG COMBI ROOF 30 roofing systems
  • Fire resistance REI 30 for large spans
  • More economical solution than existing systems
  • Significant weight reduction of the system due to the use of combined insulation of expanded polystyrene (EPS) and mineral wool for SG COMBI ROOF 30 M, or gypsum-based boards and expanded polystyrene for SG COMBI ROOF 30 P
  • Universal application for waterproofing membranes and asphalt sheets
  • High values of thermal insulation EPS COMBI ROOF– lambda D= 0.036 W/m.K

Fire resistance tests of the lightweight roofing systems SG COMBI ROOF 30 were performed according to the EN 1365-2:2001 methodology. The compositions demonstrated excellent fire properties and these combined roofs ensure the fire resistance of buildings for 30 minutes (REI 30). According to the specific project, SG COMBI ROOF 30 roofing systems are of types DP1 – DP3 (determined by a qualified person). The SG COMBI ROOF 30 systems comply with the requirement 3.2.3 ČSN 73 0810 – i.e., within the required fire resistance duration, products classified as fire reaction class B to F (e.g., thermal and sound insulation) do not reach the ignition temperature of the materials contained in the products.
