Simplicity, airiness, impressive details, and mirrored execution... This is where the unique charm of the Greek summer residence lies, captivating with architecturally exceptional processing and recurring circular motifs. And what's more, the villa Dia's Blue, which also carries a Czech touch, attracts with an endless sea view directly from the pool.
In the area of Gouves on the island of Crete lies a villa with an area of 320 m². It was designed by the architectural duo Nikos Mourelos and Maria Pervolaraki, who received the commission from an owner with high demands for quality and design. The Mediterranean residence instantly catches attention with its angular yet playful design, accented by circular cut-outs. It consists of two connected, mirror-image buildings that are otherwise identical in arrangement and equipment.

The underground garage features a spacious interior capable of accommodating not only a car but also easily bicycles and a ping-pong table. An elevator from the garage opens into an airy living room connected to the kitchenette and dining area. All the furniture is coordinated in light colors, predominantly white and gray, which are enlivened by green details in one part of the house, and yellow in the other. The cool tones are softened by wood, which permeates the entire space – whether it is wooden paneling, a dresser, or the entrance doors. These differ from the white interior doors in their wooden finish.

Czech Handle in a Greek Residence

The manufacturer of the doors used in this project is Block 95 Wooden Doors & Windows, premium door accessories, which is an authorized distributor of the Czech brand M&T. "Architect Maria Pervolaraki often designs door handles from M&T into her projects. In the villa Dia's Blue, we specifically chose 18 pairs of interior stainless steel door handles Promo with a round rose. Both entrance doors feature the same handle, but with a narrow square mechanism M 2013 with a stainless steel core for the internal structure," says George N. Koutsoudakis from Block 95 Wooden Doors & Windows. Although stainless steel and square design may appear cold at first glance, the handles are ergonomically designed and pleasant to the touch. "Stainless steel handles are characterized by high strength and mechanical resistance. Thanks to these properties, the PROMO stainless steel handles can withstand even the challenging conditions of the Mediterranean climate, which is marked by higher temperatures and humidity," emphasizes Roman Ulich, chief designer of M&T, a Czech family-owned manufacturer of designer door hardware.

The central element of the first floor is undoubtedly the terrace, which contains everything necessary for summer relaxation – a grill and a pool. The outdoor space, totaling 400 m², connects to the internal dining room and kitchen. The beautiful view of the sea can be enjoyed from the pool or lounge chairs and comfortable bean bags.

Colorful Accents in the Bathrooms

The modern and clean design is also reflected in all the bedrooms in the villa – just like in other parts of the house, they feature predominantly white-gray tones with wooden accents and subtle color highlights. The first bedroom with an adjacent bathroom is located on the first floor. Another bedroom is on the second floor and also has its own bathroom, in addition to balconies.

Unlike the overall understated style, the bathrooms are adorned with blue tiles evoking the depths of the sea and contrasting brightly yellow cabinets. Unique is also the outdoor wall, decorated again with circular openings of various sizes. These decorative elements can be found not only in the bathrooms but also on the balconies of the bedrooms.

The investor and architect worked in very close symbiosis, which is reflected in the high quality and well-thought-out details of the entire project.
