Autodesk awarded the Revit BIM Experience Award to the architectural studio Brunet Saunier for the use of Revit Architecture software in several large hospital projects. One of the most prestigious French architectural firms, Brunet Saunier, utilizes Revit Architecture for qualified decision-making (including timely assessment of financial viability), more efficient project process coordination, and the inclusion of elements of sustainable design. By granting the Revit BIM Experience Award, which is intended for professionals and educators in architecture and construction worldwide, Autodesk recognizes innovation and excellence in the use of the Revit platform and BIM methods (B
uilding Information Modeling). The BIM method enables the creation of quality and comprehensive design while allowing effective collaboration across all areas of construction design.
“We recommended the Brunet Saunier studio to use Revit Architecture for their environmentally friendly hospital projects,” said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president for AEC solutions at Autodesk. “Autodesk welcomes initiatives that promote sustainable design in practice and values innovative and environmentally responsible companies like Brunet Saunier, which utilize BIM methods for designing 'greener' buildings.”
The Brunet Saunier Architecture studio specializes in large projects in the fields of healthcare, culture, and academic organizations. The firm was recently selected as the design contractor for 10 large hospitals in France and Switzerland, including a project spanning 70,000 square meters in French Toulon, as well as in Lagny, Geneva, Belfort, and Nantes. Brunet Saunier, a customer of Autodesk for over 10 years, implemented Revit Architecture in 2005 and was one of the first architectural firms in France to adopt BIM. The firm also uses Revit Architecture to support its innovative "Monospace" approach to the design of hospital facilities, which maximizes space utilization flexibility throughout the design process.
Currently, Brunet Saunier is using Revit Architecture for the Belfort Montbéliard Hospital project in Belfort, France. This 65,000 square meter hospital has 612 beds, 10 operating rooms, 10 radiology rooms, and four delivery rooms. As designs for various hospital departments evolved, Revit Architecture provided the architectural studio with sufficient flexibility to make changes easily at all stages of the design process, including the final design stage. With a central information model created within Revit Architecture, the design team can effectively collaborate on various parts of the hospital project. Revit Architecture enabled Brunet Saunier to maintain a comprehensive and consistent understanding of the project as a whole while managing the design of each detailed area.
“The use of the new BIM approach allowed our architects to comprehensively understand each individual part of the project. The BIM method also ensures a creative and innovative approach that respects the principles of sustainable design,” said Jasques Lévy-Bencheton from Brunet Saunier Architecture. “Revit Architecture software also provides us with the necessary tools for organization and collaboration, allowing us to create designs much more efficiently, which represents an excellent competitive advantage.”
