Autodesk, the world leader in 2D and 3D design software for manufacturing, construction, media, and entertainment, announced the awarding of the prestigious Revit BIM Experience Award to Aedas, an international consultancy organization in architectural design based in Hong Kong. The company received the award for utilizing Revit Architecture software in designing remarkable buildings around the world, including the 83-story residential tower "Ocean Heights" in Dubai, for which over 10,000 window panels were used set into a modular twisted facade. With the help of Revit Architecture, Aedas's international team was able to design and verify the structural and economic parameters of the entire masonry structure of the building in a short time.

Autodesk awards the Revit BIM Experience Award to commercial companies, educational institutions, or individuals that utilize the Revit platform and the BIM (Building Information Modeling) method to create high-quality and complex designs, effective collaboration across all areas of building design, and to facilitate aspects of the design process such as increased productivity or sustainable design.
"Our goal at Aedas is to deliver the best designs to our clients," stated David Fung, a member of the project team and BIM lead manager. "With the help of Revit Architecture, we are able to create complex designs used for integration and communication with our clients and project partners."
Design Challenges
Aedas, when designing the Ocean Heights residential tower in Dubai, focused on maximizing the ocean view from three possible positions. Due to the twisted structural nature of the 83-story building, the parametric modeling tools in Revit Architecture played a crucial role in accurately embedding curves into the wall structure. Revit tools allowed Aedas to calculate the coordinates for placing more than 10,000 window panels into the modular facade and verify that each window panel was flat. This ensured both the feasibility of the design and the economic viability of the entire project.
In collaborating on the recent construction project Community College City University Building (CCCUB) in Hong Kong, Aedas successfully organized design processes and easily identified and eliminated structural defects even before construction began. This was facilitated by the use of the BIM method. The system-generated project design, including all documentation, underwent detailed examination and regulation by government authorities, school representatives, constructors, and consultants. The BIM method used in Revit Architecture ensured that the shared project documentation was perfectly coordinated design-wise, and all data required by the statutory building regulations of Hong Kong could be automatically calculated directly from the Revit model.
"In the case of Aedas, we see how companies that have already adopted the BIM method can benefit from Revit Architecture in ensuring effective creation of complex designs, successful management of international project teams, and coordination with other areas of building design in an effort to deliver a fully integrated and accessible design to the client," said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president, Autodesk AEC Solutions. "Autodesk aims to support integration and close communication in the construction industry environment, and we are therefore pleased to recognize Aedas for its contribution to the global dissemination of the BIM method."

About Aedas Ltd.
Founded in 1982, the company is now one of the largest consulting firms in architectural design in Hong Kong and the fourth largest in the world. The Hong Kong branch, a long-time user of the AutoCAD Architecture product line, first used Revit Architecture software in several projects from 2005.

About the Revit BIM Experience Award
The Revit BIM Experience Award is intended for professionals and educators in architecture and construction worldwide, who are shaping the transformation of construction through BIM (Building Information Modeling). Autodesk recognizes companies with a BIM approach for innovation and quality when applying the Revit platform, including Revit Architecture, Revit Structure, and Revit MEP.
