Public investments, current architecture, man, technology, and the passage of time. These are the topics that renowned architects Robert Konieczny from Poland and Ján Studený from Slovakia will bring to Hradec Králové on Wednesday, September 18. The colloquium for architects and a lecture for the public is organized by the regional Center for Architecture. It will take place in the foyer of the Gallery of Modern Art on Velké náměstí, entry to the entire event is free.
The program will start at 2:00 PM with a part dedicated primarily to architects or professionals from related fields. The introductory lecture will be followed by a discussion round table on the topic of building regulations, urban planning, and rules in the field of heritage preservation. These represent both a counterpoint and a prerequisite for the emergence of quality architectural solutions. Architects Ján Studený (SK) and Robert Konieczny (PL) have experience in designing buildings both in the Czech Republic and in their home environments, which allows them to compare the conditions for the development of building culture from their own practice and to address the dynamic relationship between regulation and quality in these neighboring states.
From 6:00 PM, there will be a block titled “Architecture for Today and Tomorrow: Man, Technology, and the Passage of Time,” intended for the broadest public. The architects will familiarize the audience with their realizations and specific projects, showcasing their own approach and key themes of their work such as temporal dynamics, social, technological, and cultural aspects in architecture.
“The Czech Republic shares with Poland and Slovakia the deformation of the legal and cultural environment in the second half of the 20th century and the rapid, often unanchored development in the subsequent decades. The development of building culture thus occurs within a comparable framework, yet quite differently. That is what interests us. In what aspects can we be inspired by our neighbors, and where does their practice lag behind ours? How do standards and regulations manifest in the current style of architectural creation in each country? These are the questions we want to explore in more detail with our guests,” specifies the purpose of the event by Michal Kudrnáč, head of the Center for Architecture.
The Center for Architecture is a regional organization operating at the Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové. It organizes lectures for both professional and lay audiences and assists local governments in preparing quality investments to ensure that new constructions are more beautiful, inclusive, and sustainable.
