Experience of the city architect of Český Krumlov, rediscovery of city architecture in a small town. Lecture from the series Petr Lešek vs. City Architect. The first guest of Petr Lešek will be Ondřej Busta, a graduate of the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec in 2004. From 2005 to 2007, he worked in Prague and from 2007 to 2009 in London. In 2010, he became a co-founder of the architectural studio ROBUST and a year later was an external architect for the city of Krnov. From 2014 to 2019, he was a teaching assistant in the Architecture 4 studio with Roman Brychta at UPRUM, and since 2017, he has been the external city architect of Český Krumlov. Petr Lešek is a graduate of the FA CTU and a co-founder of the studio Projektil architekti. From 2011 to 2014, he was a member of the board of the Czech Chamber of Architects. Ondřej Busta's lecture on his experience as a city architect in Krnov and Český Krumlov will introduce a series dedicated to the topic of city architects in the Czech Republic. Český Krumlov is interesting not only for its specificity as a tourist-attractive city in the former Sudetenland but also for the revival of the position of the city architect. Using the example of a town with 13,000 residents outside the main transport routes, it illustrates the possibilities and limitations of such a position. The lecture will be introduced, and the subsequent moderated discussion will be led by Petr Lešek, who has long been dedicated to the care for the cultural environment - the architecture of small and medium-sized towns, architectural competitions, and architecture politics.
