Žilina - Pecha Kucha is a brand under which evenings of quick and dynamic presentations by creative interesting people are held. Currently, this format has expanded to 158 cities around the world, including Žilina and Bratislava this year. The basic principle is a precisely defined space of 6 minutes and 40 seconds for architects, designers, and artists from various fields. Pecha Kucha Night Žilina Volume 5 will take place on Friday, December 19, at 20:20 in the cultural center Stanica Žilina-Záriečie. "The last Pecha Kucha Night this year in Žilina is also our farewell to visitors this year, and there will be traditional cabbage soup," invites the director of the Station, Marek Adamov.
At the fifth Žilina Pecha Kucha Night, architects V.A.L (Viera Mecková, Alex Mlynarčík, Lajo Kupkovič), Marek Németh and Barak architects, graphic designer Linda Marčeková, artists Ladislav Čarný, Danka Krajčová, Czech-Polish tandem Jakub Adamec and Magda Jańczuk, as well as Alena Hudcovičová and Matjaz Štuk from Amsterdam will perform. Unusually, two children (Kristián Janotka, Andrej Karásek) from the Stanica studios will also present. The organizer of Slovak culture in London, Štefan Krasňanský, Soňa Holúbková from the Harmony Country Foundation, and in an atypical role, Žilina mayor Ivan Harman will also present their work in the space of 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This time, the music will be provided by DJ Dash (stereodisco.sk).
The Pecha Kucha Night format was conceived by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, founders of the architectural studio Klein Dytham Architecture, and was first released to the public in Tokyo in 2003. Each author has 20 images, each of which remains on the projection screen for twenty seconds. Therefore, each author has exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This rule keeps the evening dynamic, precise, concise, and to the point.
Pecha Kucha Night is organized in Slovakia in Bratislava and Žilina by the cultural center Stanica Žilina-Záriečie in collaboration with OZ Punkt. and OZ Kachuna.
