One of the leading Dutch architects who took on the role of "rijksbouwmeester" in 2011 – who is an advisor to the ministers responsible for spatial planning and architectural policy in the Netherlands. In a five-year term, he defines state priorities for new construction and currently, as the Netherlands grapples with the consequences of the financial crisis, he is primarily seeking innovative solutions for the use of the existing building stock.
