Znojmo – The Znojmo Town Hall will have a study and visualization prepared for a new social and cultural hall in the long-term seat of Česká spořitelna on Pontassievská Street. The so-called Domeček was purchased by the Town Hall in 2018 for 45 million crowns with this aim. The study and visualization, for which the city will allocate 135,000 crowns, will serve as a basis for discussing the intention with the public. This was stated today in a press release by Znojmo spokesperson Karolína Janečková.
The study and visualization of the hall will be prepared by the Znojmo-based Atelier GNS. The layout study is to be completed by the end of April and will include two solution variants. By the end of May, a visualization in the form of four photorealistic images of the addressed space will be developed.
"Given the situation that Česká spořitelna, as the tenant, has exercised its rights and extended the lease in the building, we anticipate that construction will not be possible for at least two years. This gives us time to hold the promised public discussions in the meantime. It is in our interest for citizens to decide how to proceed with the entire building," said Mayor Jakub Malačka (ČSSD).
Plans for the ground floor of the Domeček include building a dance floor, a stage, and facilities for staff. There are also spaces available on the upper floor of the building. Architects will investigate, among other things, the possibility of placing a restaurant with year-round operation.
The building dates back to the late 19th century and was named the German House since 1910. In 1930, the object received a hotel extension and after World War II, while under state ownership, served as a hotel and hall for organizing social events until the 1990s. Since then, it has mainly served as a facility for Česká spořitelna and other companies.
