Špindlerův Mlýn (Trutnovsko) – A company co-owned by billionaire Marek Dospiva has lost its building permit for modifications to Hotel Barbora in the Krkonošské Špindlerův Mlýn. This was reported today by the Deník N website, which was confirmed by the mayor of the mountain resort, Vladimír Staruch. According to the server, the building authority also imposed two fines in the hundreds of thousands of crowns on the company Hotel Barbora - Špindlerův Mlýn for demolishing the hotel.

According to the building permit, it was supposed to be a renovation of the hotel, an extension, and an addition. "I can confirm that the building permit has expired and there was an administrative proceeding against the company. It was supposed to be a reconstruction, but they basically demolished the entire building," said Staruch. He did not want to comment on the amount of the fines.

The fine, according to the server, was imposed at the end of last year. "It was definitely not a symbolic fine, but a significant one that an average company would feel quite acutely," Deník N quotes its source.

Dospiva bought Hotel Barbora in the early 1990s with his acquaintance, lawyer Daniel Kučera, for 34.9 million crowns, the server writes. Even before that, in 2016, Dospiva bought a building above the hotel and gradually converted it into a three-storey apartment building.

The hotel was demolished in 2018. "I simply didn't like Barbora. So I decided to buy it and redesign it with the best architects. I'm thinking about what Špindl should look like in ten years. I’m setting the bar and the direction," Dospiva said in that year to Forbes magazine. According to Deník N, a four-storey lodge with underground garages is to be built on the site of the hotel, which will be about two meters lower than the original building. Inside, 20 apartments, a reception, and a small buffet are planned.
