ŠUMPERK - The city of Šumperk is expected to receive a new municipal gallery later this year. The facility, which has been missing in the city, will be created in the eastern wing of Pavlínin dvůr. The building will not only have exhibition spaces but also rooms for accommodation, and the city’s information center will move into it. The costs amount to approximately 20 million crowns, half of which the city has received from European funds.

"We will begin construction in the spring, and if everything goes well, the gallery should be completed before Christmas. The gallery will allow artists from the city and the surrounding region to present their works. In addition to a permanent exhibition, we are also planning temporary exhibitions," said Šumperk Mayor Zdeněk Brož to ČTK today.
The Šumperk museum building will also have approximately 30 hotel-type accommodation places. "The operator will be the House of Culture, which will also create a job there. We will offer accommodation to the public, but a large part will be used for cultural events in the city. Guests and performers will be able to stay in it," Brož added.
The city information center will also move from its current space to the eastern wing of Pavlínin dvůr, gaining more representative premises.
The city hall is already considering purchasing artworks to decorate the gallery. It has therefore established a working committee for the procurement of artworks. Last year, the city allocated 150,000 crowns for the purchase of artistic treasures, and for this year, the same amount is planned. The Regional Museum in Šumperk is also acquiring artworks.
