Přerov - The company Prior department stores will start a large-scale reconstruction of the Prior department store in Přerov next week, which will cost approximately 400 million crowns. It is expected to be completed by the middle of next year. Due to the repairs, the adjacent parking lot will be closed from Monday, February 9, spokesperson for the Přerov city hall Lenka Chalupová informed ČTK today.
The four-story building of the Přerov Prior will be reduced and expanded with an extension onto the adjacent parking lot, where the construction of a shopping arcade is planned. "There will thus be a newly created predominantly two-story and partly three-story building with rooftop parking spaces that will compensate for the lost parking lot," states the announcement of the investment project.
A supermarket and about 60 small shops will be opened in the shopping gallery. "After the reconstruction, customers will park on the roof of the new gallery, where there will be up to 300 parking spaces for cars," said Chalupová.
At the same time, the construction of the first shopping center is being prepared in Přerov. Part of the production facility of the company Kazeto near the Tesco hypermarket is set to be transformed into a shopping zone, chosen for the construction of a shopping complex named My Box by the Austrian development group Eyemaxx. The group is already building shopping parks Stop.Shop in the Czech Republic.
The My Box project in Přerov plans to build a single-story building that will house eight large stores, including those for consumer electronics, drugstore goods, footwear, clothing, or furniture. The new shopping center is designed with a retail area of 4,800 m².
Developers have not yet built any modern shopping center in Přerov, which has approximately 47,000 inhabitants. The local residents only have access to the Prior department store, which was opened in 1986. People can also buy consumer goods in hypermarkets Albert, Tesco, and Kaufland, several supermarkets, or small specialized stores.
