Chrudim - The former site of the construction company Preming in Chrudim is set to transform into an attractive area with residential buildings. The company VCES Property Development plans to build up to 400 apartments there in four phases. The new development will also provide access to the neighboring city park. This was stated today by the project's author, architect Karel Thér. "The apartment buildings will connect to the street V Hliníkách and will allow pedestrian access to the park. Parking will mostly be located underground. The park is expected to extend between the buildings and be a continuation of it," said Thér, who collaborated on the plans with a landscape designer. The boundary of the industrial site is formed by the city park and the street V Hliníkách, as well as the railway track and a complex of secondary schools. The buildings are primarily designed as four-story structures with an additional attic floor. Commercial spaces for retail and services are to be located on the ground floors. The park-like character of the new housing estate is accentuated not only by the planned water reservoir but also by the names of the entrances to the individual buildings. These in each structure begin with the same letter and are inspired by tree species. For example, they include ash, elm, sorbus, ginkgo, cherry, walnut, aspen, ambroin, acacia, pear, and hawthorn, among others. "For each entrance, one significant tree will be designated, so it will be said, for example: I live in the ash tree on the third floor. The motif will be graphically woven throughout the building, such as its fruits and leaves, and the tree species will also grow nearby," the architect stated. One mature ash tree already stands in the area, and more trees are to be planted. The investor intends to build approximately 100 apartments in five buildings in the first phase, with up to 14 additional structures to be built based on buyer interest. Currently, they are seeking to obtain the zoning decision for construction, and the city's zoning plan is in accordance with the proposal. Thér estimates that preparation for construction will begin in the fall of this year. VCES Property Development is a subsidiary of the construction company VCES Holding based in Pardubice. In 2006, the majority stake was acquired by the French telecommunications and construction group Bouygues.
