Janské Lázně - A new Tree Top Path was opened today near Janské Lázně. At the foot of the Černá hora, it was built by the Tree Top Path Krkonoše company for 170 million crowns. The path, 1300 meters long with a lookout tower, aims to show visitors trees from the roots to their crowns and uniquely leads them underground, said the company's manager, Filip Pekárek, to ČTK. “There is nowhere in the world where the soil space is shown and interpreted, which I wouldn't dare say if it weren't for the Krkonošsko National Park, which is our main partner. They did all the education and know that the only such interpretation in the world is here in the Krkonoš,” Pekárek stated.
In the underground cave with an area of 400 square meters, visitors will have the opportunity to study the micro-world of soil, from roots to the smallest creatures. The path itself rises up to 23 meters above the ground in places. About two-thirds along the path is a wooden lookout tower standing 45 meters tall. The entire construction is barrier-free and includes several adrenaline sections. One of its features is a dry toboggan that runs inside the lookout tower.
According to the investor's expectations, the path is set to become one of the main tourist attractions in the Krkonoš, with approximately 200,000 visitors potentially annually. It will be open daily, except on Christmas Eve. Adults will pay an entrance fee of 220 crowns, children aged three to 14 and seniors 180 crowns, and family entrance is 560 crowns. Riding the toboggan costs an additional 50 crowns.
The investor has already built five similar paths in the Czech Republic and Europe. The Tree Top Path in Lipno nad Vltavou in the Český Krumlov area has been operating since 2012. The Bavarian Baumwipfelpfad near Neuschönau in the heart of the Bavarian Forest, opened in September 2009, served as inspiration for the Czech tree-top paths.
