Pardubice - The title of Building of the Year 2006 in the Pardubice Region was awarded to the administrative and commercial building located in J. M. Marků Square in Lanškroun, designed by the Atelier ai5 - Kokeš and Medlík, architects. As stated by the spokesperson for the Pardubice Region, Kateřina Nohavová, the expert committee evaluated 14 submitted buildings. The objects were categorized into four groups based on their characteristics. "The administrative building in Lanškroun not only won in the category of Public Amenities but also became the Building of the Year 2006," said Nohavová. It is a new construction situated in the gap on J. M. Marků Square, which, according to experts, respects the street line of the square. The layout of the building is designed as a two-wing structure, where a narrow corridor serves primarily as an access pathway. The building houses shops and offices. In the category of Residential and Family Houses, the jury decided to award an honorable mention to the apartment building on Sokolská Street in Lanškroun, whose investor was the town of Lanškroun. An honorable mention in the category of Industrial, Agricultural and Water Management Buildings was awarded to the company Stavona České Libchavy for the new construction of a manufacturing plant for producing plastic windows. This includes the construction of a two-storey administrative and commercial building with a single-storey social section, two production halls, access routes, as well as a wastewater treatment plant and landscaping. In the category of Transport and Engineering Structures, the committee did not designate a winner. The competition was announced by the Pardubice Region in cooperation with the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction and the Union of Entrepreneurs in Construction in the Czech Republic. The ceremonial announcement of the results will take place on October 3 in the meeting hall of the regional council at Komenského Square in Pardubice. The Building of the Year competition is being held for the second time in the Pardubice Region. In 2004, a total of 11 projects registered. The awards went to the authors of the new headquarters of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Pardubice Region in the category of Public Amenities, while the reconstruction of A.
