Brno - The Railway Administration will this year strive for two building permits for significant constructions in Brno. In the first half of the year, it expects the issuance of a permit for the reconstruction of the Královo Pole railway station and by the end of the year wants to apply for a permit for the reconstruction of the Židenice railway station, said Jan Nevola, spokesman for the Railway Administration, to ČTK today. Both projects are set to begin next year.

The reconstruction of the Židenice railway station is related to the overall reconstruction of the Brno railway junction, with the construction of a new main station planned for 2028. "The construction in Židenice includes the reconstruction of the bridge over Bubeníčková Street, preparation for the construction of a new ticket hall, and the construction of a new technology building, which will house communication technologies for the entire Brno junction," described Nevola. Thus, the platforms will not be moved closer to the Kuldova tram stop. Židenice will also not become a barrier-free station, and passengers will still have to overcome stairs when going to the platform.

This shortcoming will, on the other hand, be eliminated by the reconstruction of the Královo Pole railway station for 2.9 billion crowns, where the demolition of the old and the construction of a new dispatch building will cost 300 million. "First, a temporary waiting room will be built, followed by the demolition of the current building and the construction of a new one," stated Nevola. The track layout and platform will also be reconstructed, and there are plans for the modernization of the track from Maloměřice through Královo Pole to Kuřim.
