The villa of JUDr. Eduard Lisky (also Šlapetova villa) in Silesian Ostrava from 1936.
One of the pearls of functionalism in Ostrava – the villa at Čedičová Street No. 8 in Silesian Ostrava, which was built between 1935-1936 according to the design of the brothers Lubomír and Čestmír Šlapet, will be opened to the public for the first time. Its owners decided to do so in support of Ostrava’s candidacy for the title of European Capital of Culture 2015. Guided tours with expert commentary by architectural historian Martin Strakoš and professor of architecture Vladimír Šlapeta will take place on Saturday, August 21 and 28.
Due to the limited capacity of each tour, registration in advance is required at the email: barbora.rzymanova@ostrava2015.cz, or by phone at +420 596 110 523.
The villa has been a national cultural monument since 2008 (only the fourth in Ostrava), and thus part of the list of the country’s most significant cultural heritage. For example, other monuments on the list include Prague Castle, the Crown Jewels, Charles Bridge, the National Theatre, the Tugendhat villa in Brno, and others.
