Prague – The company Skanska Reality will build 10 residential buildings with more than 900 apartments on the site of the former industrial area on Polygrafická Street in Prague's Malešice district. The company has already obtained a zoning decision for the project, and according to spokesperson Renata Vildomcová, the estimated construction costs are 4.5 billion crowns. Skanska is also preparing residential buildings in Modřany and Michle in Prague.

The project in Malešice plans to utilize 70,000 m² of land, and about 2,500 people should find a home in the buildings. "For such a large project, we are obviously considering civic amenities, for which we will prepare spaces in the ground floor of the residential buildings along the extended Polygrafická Street. In addition to a park, playgrounds, shops, and services, there should also be a kindergarten. However, it is still unclear who will operate it," stated the spokesperson.

The industrial area is located near the final station of metro line A, Depo Hostivař, where several suburban bus lines terminate, and the city plans to build a tram loop, a P+R parking garage, and a railway stop. Rail Cargo Group wanted to build a railway transshipment terminal nearby, but this was criticized by some residents of Prague 10, as well as by the local municipality and the city council. Last year, after the city's assessment did not recommend approving the plan, the company requested to halt the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the project.

Skanska Reality is also preparing a large residential project, Modřanský cukrovar, in Prague, which will include 767 apartments, shops, a kindergarten, a multifunctional hall, and a park. The brownfield site of the former sugar factory is located on the right bank of the Vltava River in the southwestern part of Modřany. The company is preparing another residential project on a four-hectare site of former bakeries in Michle. It plans several buildings for up to 1,700 residents, commercial spaces, a park, and a nursery school.

Skanska is one of the largest construction companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It mainly focuses on road and railway construction and concrete structures. Its subsidiaries, such as Skanska Reality, also focus on the construction of residential and commercial properties primarily in Prague.
