The third annual reSITE conference will take place on June 19-20, 2014, at the new Prague hall Forum Karlín. The conference will be part of the eponymous festival, which has become the most prestigious interdisciplinary event focused on public space in Central Europe in its three years of existence. The first announced main star of the reSITE 2014 conference will be Michael Kimmelman, one of the most influential American architecture theorists and the chief art critic of the New York Times.
The event follows this year's exceptionally successful year, which attracted over a thousand participants to various events held under the banner of reSITE. Over the past two years, the conference has featured more than sixty speakers and 550 attendees from twenty countries. The leitmotif of this year's reSITE 2014 is Cities and Landscapes of the New Economy. From the partially disclosed program and the names of some guests, it can already be anticipated that reSITE 2014 will rank among the most prestigious events concerning cities as places for living.
reSITE primarily addresses architects, politicians, urban planners, developers, landscape architects, city planners, economists, engineers, financiers, activists, transport engineers, scientists, artists, and students. And of course, anyone concerned with the development of cities as places for a full life.
reSITE 2014 will once again bring to Prague more than fifty guests from abroad. Discussions will primarily focus on the fields of architecture, economics, politics, finance, and urban planning. The organizers aim to enhance not only the quality of discussions on these issues but also to showcase specific successful solutions from home and abroad, thus inspiring events in other cities in Central Europe. The main thematic areas will be: Strategic Planning and Public Discussion; Civic Resilience, City for All; Intensification and Development; Industrial Past - Innovative Future. Key guests of reSITE 2014 will include: Michael Kimmelman [chief architecture critic at the New York Times • NYC] / Kate Ascher [Happold Consulting • London] / Tomáš Hudeček [Mayor of Prague] / Eugene Asse [director of the Moscow School of Architecture • Moscow] / Andrej Griněv [Artkartel • Moscow] / Tomáš Ctibor [Institute of Planning and Development • Prague] / Marek Dospiva [Penta Investments • Prague] / Adam Greenfield [London School of Economics • London] / Jan Ludvík [Karlin Group • Prague] / Erik Frijters [Fabric • Rotterdam] / Pavel Hnilička [Institute of Planning and Development • Prague] / Fritz Kuhn [Mayor of Stuttgart • Germany] / Michel Desvigne [Michel Desvigne Paysagiste • Paris] / Michael Brown [Director • Calgary Municipal Development Authority • Calgary] / Jón Gnarr [Mayor of Reykjavík, Iceland] / Maxwan [Rotterdam] / Henk Ovink [chief advisor to the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force • Washington D.C.]

The reSITE festival was founded in 2011 by American urbanist Martin Barry. This year, thanks to a grant program from the Vodafone Foundation Rok jinak, architect Osamu Okamura, formerly the long-term editor-in-chief of the architectural magazine ERA21, became its program director.
