Vrchlabí (Trutnovsko) - Enthusiasts from the Czech Patriotic Society for the establishment of the Jára Cimrman monument plan to ceremoniously open a new National Library in Vrchlabí in Letná on March 9.

"After a long hesitation from the representatives of the Prague City Hall and conflicting opinions from our political scene, culture, and social life, the society decided not only to realize this unique building but also to place it in the Krkonoše," one of the society members, Ivo Farský, told ČTK.
The organizers are preparing to unveil a model of the library designed by architect Jan Kaplický on a meadow called Letná above the Vrchlabí hospital at a scale of 1:758; the model is expected to be over a meter high, and enthusiasts promise that the so-called octopus will have a greenish color. "Of course, the individual floors with sections and books will also be visible. However, I don't want to reveal more details for now," Farský said. The enthusiasts intend to connect directly with architect Kaplický from Vrchlabí's Letná.
The Czech Patriotic Society for the establishment of the Jára Cimrman monument has previously organized several satirical events, such as in 2004 when its members announced the start of construction of an underground railway in the Krkonoše Mountains. They also participated in the opening of the Krkonoš Consulate of the Wallachian Kingdom in Vrchlabí and assist in organizing theater festivals.
