Česká Skalice – The first phase of the reconstruction of Husova Square in Česká Skalice in the Náchod region cost 26 million crowns including VAT and was completed at the end of September. The second phase of the square's renovation, which was supposed to start in spring, will likely be postponed by the town hall due to budget cuts related to the coronavirus. This was stated to ČTK by the mayor of the city, Zuzana Jungwirthová. Construction work began in March and is the largest investment for the city this year.

The first phase concerned the central part of the square, to the left of the main road from Náchod. Builders created new sidewalks, restored greenery, repaired the fountain, and installed a new camera system and lighting. The reconstruction also included the renewal of engineering networks.

The square's renovation is divided into three phases, with the second phase focusing on the upper part of the square, to the right of the road from Náchod. "We are continuing with the design, but the budget for next year does not currently include the second phase; it is not on the agenda. We must postpone non-essential matters; the city cannot afford it under the current circumstances," Jungwirthová told ČTK today.

After the completion of the entire square's renovation, the number of parking spaces will increase from the current 49 to 108. The city has been preparing the reconstruction of the central square for over ten years.
