Prostějov plans to renovate part of the center, including the community house

Prostějov - The city hall plans to reconstruct part of the historical center of Prostějov in the coming years, with the intention also including the renovation of the dilapidated building of the Cultural and Social Center. The costs for the reconstruction of the community house are currently estimated at 190 million crowns. The exact amount of the investment will be known after the project is processed and the selection procedure for the contractor is completed. Jiří Rozehnal (ANO), the deputy mayor of Prostějov, informed ČTK today.

"We expect to issue a project documentation assignment for the reconstruction of the community house in the second half of this year and to begin the actual reconstruction in the spring months of 2020," said Rozehnal.

According to Rozehnal, the city hall is also currently working on a proposal for an architectural competition for the revitalization of part of the historical center around the community house, which has been deteriorating for years. The area is bounded by the market, the community house, and the site of the former soda factory. The plan also includes the renovation of the market and the construction of a parking garage.

"Before the competition is announced, the proposal will be discussed with all the heads of the representative clubs. We will, of course, also consider comments from the public," noted Rozehnal.

The city was able to start preparing the reconstruction of the community house and its surroundings after the appellate Regional Court in Brno confirmed in January the annulment of the contract between the Prostějov city hall and the company Manthellan regarding the planned construction of the shopping center Galerie Prostějov in this part of the city center.
