Brno - Those interested in the twenty-two-hectare area of the bankrupt company Zbrojovka Brno will have a third opportunity to view the properties ahead of the upcoming auction. The law mandates two mandatory viewings, but the auction company will arrange at least three proper and two extraordinary viewings due to the interest shown, said Jaroslav Hradil from the company Prokonzulta to ČTK. So far, 20 interested parties have viewed the property after today's inspection. The auction is scheduled for January 31.

Zbrojovka went into bankruptcy in 2003. To date, it owes 72 creditors more than 460 million. It definitively ceased production last summer. Several dozen buildings are being auctioned with a starting price of 351.687 million crowns. The final price could be more than 100 million higher, according to auctioneers. So far, they have managed to sell part of the machinery and weapons, with a total value reaching tens of millions.
Some machinery was purchased by Brno Rifles, part of the group around the Uherský Brod company Česká Zbrojovka. They employed 29 former Zbrojovka workers and started producing again last autumn in a rented section of the Brno facility.
The area will be auctioned as a whole. However, according to real estate agents, it is difficult to estimate how advantageous the investment is. It depends on factors such as ecological burdens, the condition of the buildings, and the city's zoning plan. The oldest building, which served as administrative, dates back to 1870. Most of the structures were built in the first half of the 20th century. The condition of the buildings reflects their age, and generally, only necessary maintenance repairs have been carried out, the auction company reported.
Additionally, a court hearing will take place the day before the auction with the former administrator of the bankruptcy estate, Ilona Strmisková. She is facing charges that she attempted to sell the weapons from the bankruptcy below market value. Together with appraiser Pavel Ryšavý, she allegedly caused the company a loss of 186,000 crowns. She faces up to eight years in prison for this. The administrator herself has filed a number of criminal complaints. According to her, the former owners defrauded the company of up to half a billion crowns.
