Prague - The Prague City Hall will unify the design of the information stands with timetables at public transport stops. The new design of the so-called markers will be created by the Artěl studio (studio Olgoj Chorchoj). This follows from a document approved by the Prague councilors today. The contract will be awarded directly to the company, as it has already won two competitions for the design of Prague street furniture. The city organization Ropid, which plans Prague's and regional public transport, will sign a contract with them. In addition to the stands, the city will also seek a new design for electronic panels displaying arrivals and departures of connections.

Currently, there are several types of stands in Prague's integrated transport system (PID). The goal now is to unify their appearance. The new type of marker is also intended to improve accessibility and eliminate barriers at some stops. The new design of the stands will also appear at stops in the Central Bohemian Region that are integrated into the PID.

Part of the city hall's plan is also a proposal for a standalone electronic departure panel. "This device displaying real-time departures from the stop is one of the fundamental modern elements for informing passengers in public transport," states the document. This system is already operational at some Prague stops, such as in Klárov, on the route to Barrandov, or in Podolí.

The costs associated with finding a new design and producing prototypes will be covered by Ropid from funds it receives from the city hall. The councilors agreed today that the city will provide Ropid with nearly 2.5 million crowns.
