Prague - The Prague City Hall will have an urban study drafted for the Nové Dvory area in Prague 12, where a metro station of the same name is expected to be built in the future. The aim of the study is to determine the potential use of the area. This follows from a document approved by the Prague council today. The city will collaborate on the study with the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR), the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP), and the city halls of Prague 4 and 12.

"This is a metropolitan priority and one of the key areas for the future development of the city, which can be characterized as a significant district center with the potential of a citywide center," the document states. The land is also a key catchment area, as the D metro station will be constructed here.

For the western part of the area, an appropriate and high-quality method of use and development should be found, with requirements for sufficient public spaces. In the eastern part, the study will primarily assess the non-buildable nature of the area, where it is assumed that natural open sports fields and parks can be present.

Last year, geological surveys for the new D line began. In the first phase, the metro will run between Pankrác and Nové Dvory and will then continue to the Písnice Depot. In the future, a section from Pankrác to Náměstí Míru is to be constructed. The direction of the metro from Náměstí Míru has not yet been decided. One of the options was Náměstí Republiky, while another suggested the route towards Žižkov and further into Vysočany. The total estimated cost is 72.6 billion crowns and the investor is the public transit company.
