Prague - The Prague City Hall intends to apply for a building permit this autumn for the renovation of the terrace above the C line metro station Budějovická. They are currently finalizing the necessary documentation. In response to a query from ČTK, the spokesperson for the City Hall, Vít Hofman, stated this today. The terrace was closed last January due to its deteriorating condition, and the previous city administration initially planned to demolish it. Along with the terrace, the entrance to the metro was also closed for several months.
"There has been a calming of the positions of all parties involved, and we are negotiating at the same table. Yesterday we had the final reading of the project with all parties involved. The project documentation for the building permit is nearing completion," Hofman said.
The applicant for the project documentation for the renovation is the city, which has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with Česká spořitelna and the House of Housing Culture (DBK), which is located by the metro station. "We would like to apply for the building permit for the renovation of the terrace in the autumn, and at the same time, we would like to start looking for a contractor. Ideally, the contractor could be known by the end of spring," Hofman stated.
The terrace was built in 1977 and has never been renovated or maintained. Problems include, for example, leakage into the structure. The state of emergency has been known since 2010. Historically, the structure did not belong to anyone. It was only in 2013 that officials from the Prague 4 municipal office decided that it belongs to the city. In the last nearly six years, several projects for the renovation of the terrace have been developed, but none have ever been carried out.
The passage by the southern exit of the metro was closed by Prague on January 22 last year. Three days earlier, the exit from the metro had been closed. The City Hall subsequently proposed to demolish the terrace. However, after nearly ten months, the terrace was finally propped up with supports, which are still at the exit from the metro, and the southern exit from the metro was reopened. DBK has been dissatisfied with the closure of the passage from the beginning. The city unsuccessfully negotiated with them about the possible sale of the terrace to the shopping center. The Prague 4 municipal office also opposed the closure at that time.
