According to the opposition, the contract was awarded to former Prague mayor Jan Kasl.
Prague - Prague 6 is preparing to build 78 small apartments for seniors and families with children in Liboc. The buildings will have two floors and underground garages with 60 parking spaces. In this year's budget of the district, 40 million crowns are allocated for this project, said deputy mayor Štěpán Stupčuk (ČSSD) today. Opposition councilors and some local residents oppose the construction. Councilor Antonín Nechvátal (SZ) stated that the project will cost the city's treasury 170 million crowns.
"We want to develop a social housing fund so that we can effectively integrate and help our seniors," said Stupčuk. "But on the other hand, to meet the legitimate housing needs of some young families," he added.
"The coalition of ODS and ČSSD is selling municipal apartments at a discount while simultaneously wanting to build an industrial-style housing complex in a villa district," said opposition councilor Nechvátal to ČTK. Some local residents are also unimpressed by the project. They believe it does not fit into the local architecture, calling it "monstrous." They also disagree with the planned construction of an anti-noise wall near the railway. They have expressed their objections in a petition.
"The original project represented one large continuous mass. Therefore, the volume was reduced and the project was modified to its current form," said Stupčuk.
The construction is expected to be completed next year through the city-owned company Sneo. The company was tasked with preparing the project documentation for 2.5 million crowns. According to the opposition, the contract was awarded to former Prague mayor Jan Kasl, who will lead the candidate list of the governing ANO party in the autumn municipal elections in Prague.
