Praha 5 will create a study of Plzeňská Street and its surroundings

Prague - The City Hall of Prague 5 will commission an urban study of Plzeňská Street and its surroundings in the Košíře and Motol areas aiming to propose modifications to public spaces. The city council approved the outcome of the tender for the architectural office this week, with ARCHUM architects' studio winning with a price of approximately 1.8 million crowns.

The study will focus on Plzeňská Street and the surrounding areas between Na Zámyšli Street in the east and the Vozovna Motol tram stop in the west. The area includes, in the south, sports fields of the Motol sports park and areas around the Golf Hotel, and in the north, areas designated for future construction including a production and storage complex in Kotlářka.

According to the document, investors plan a number of construction projects in the area, and one of the goals of the study is to coordinate these projects and clarify ownership relations, particularly concerning the future solutions for public spaces. "The study must emphasize the coordination of ownership relations and co-ownership and the needs of public and transport infrastructure," the document states.

The study will include an analytical part describing the current situation and a proposal for the target state. The preparation should take half a year. Afterwards, the document will serve as a basis for decision-making regarding intentions in the area.

Plzeňská Street is approximately eight kilometers long and runs from Anděl to Stodůlky. As the main connection from the city center to the D5 motorway towards Plzeň, it is an important artery for road traffic, but also for trams. In Smíchov, the area around the street is densely built, while the region between Košíře and Motol has many vacant plots with anticipated future development.
