Prague - The plans of the Ditrich company to transform the historically protected Schönkirch palace in Prague near Národní třída into a luxurious five-star hotel have likely come to an end. The property, along with the adjacent parking lot, has been seized in favor of PPF bank and is heading to auction based on the decision of executor Juraj Podkonický. The starting price is set at 227.5 million crowns. The purchase of the parking lot at the corner of Národní třída and Mikulandská street made history years ago as the deal for the most expensive plot that has ever been sold in Prague. At that time, the Ditrich company paid 243,000 crowns per square meter. They invested a total of approximately 200 million crowns into the land. The Ditrich company paid an additional 185 million crowns to the Union of Industry and Transport for the Schönkirch palace. The total auction price for the properties is now set at 341.2 million crowns according to the auction announcement. According to the original plans, the Accor company was supposed to bring the Sofitel brand to Prague. They wanted to invest up to 1.5 billion crowns into the luxury hotel offering 170 rooms. However, due to the crisis, which among other things led to low hotel occupancy, they abandoned the project.
