The city has its space. This space has a different quality and shade for everyone. It is not an amorphous mass, but a living organism with its own scents and pleasant corners. It has its structure, where it is necessary to seek and create stories of individual places and paths. To deal with contrasts and differences and to literally allow the shoots of new life to sprout here, or conversely, to discover little gaps of mystery that unexpectedly enchant with the charm of another world, a world of ancient childhood imagination or carnival revelry. The piano is precisely one of these shoots that comes to life with the influx of sounds colored by the harmony of summer. I already have experience with the spontaneous and targeted placement of pianos in public spaces through managing café businesses. Last year, we organized an event several times in front of café V lese in Krymská. In Bajkazyl, on the embankment under Palackého Bridge, where I have co-managed an outdoor bar for the second year, we discovered the charm of a seasonal piano placement right under the open sky. There, we could observe the joy of passersby at the bizarreness of this object on the riverbank, the charm of which was multiplied by the view of Prague Castle. Even greater poetry occurred when a passing grandmother with a cane sat down at the instrument and played a moonlight sonata. The seated guests applauded, and the sprightly grandmother got up and continued on her way.
We would like to support this immediacy in other places in the city as well. We believe that these small elements in the city can help people show what is possible, develop their imagination, and inspire them. Such things are simply contagious, and those who see and experience it will spontaneously do something similar or at least talk about it. It is about showing people what is possible.
