At the turn of the year, the company AZ Sanace will start constructing a multifunctional building called Palác Zdar in the center of Ústí nad Labem. In five above-ground and three underground floors, there will be parking, a supermarket, boutiques, restaurants, and luxury apartments. "We anticipate opening in the autumn of 2007," said company representative Jakub Zavoral today. Zavoral estimated the construction costs at 300 million crowns. Particularly expensive will be the construction of the underground floors, which will have 175 parking spaces. The company has now submitted a project for approval by the regional office regarding the construction's impact on the environment. According to Zavoral, AZ Sanace could obtain a building permit at the beginning of December. The building, which will rise on the site where the courthouse and the restaurant Zdar once stood, will also house Česká pošta. There will not be a planned multiplex cinema in the building. "We did not agree on the operating conditions; the cinema will be replaced by restaurants, offices, and shops," Zavoral stated. The city sold the investor a plot of land measuring approximately half a hectare for 2100 crowns per square meter. "Citizens living downtown will surely welcome the supermarket, which is currently missing in the city center," said Deputy Mayor Jan Kubata.
