51 architecturally interesting buildings and objects will open the second edition of the Open House Prague festival, which will invite the public for a tour of normally inaccessible Prague buildings over the weekend of May 14-15. People will have a unique opportunity to see the insides of houses they walk past in the street every day.

This year, the festival is also taking place further from the city center, and each of the more distant buildings will really be worth it,“ promises the coordinator of Open House Prague, Andrea Šenkyříková. Open House Prague will offer historic palaces, modern office complexes, residential projects, and technical and industrial buildings. Highlights this year include the Sazka building with a lottery television studio, the new headquarters of AVAST in the Enterprise Office Center, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences with a new building called "Cauliflower," and also the Invalidovna, whose interiors will be visible this year for the last time because it is set to be offered for sale in June.

Registration will again be required for spaces with technical operations. This includes the Štvanice power plant, the CETIN central telecommunication building, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, the Staropramen brewery in Smíchov, and the KO17 shelter under the Thomayer Hospital. Registered participants will also have special access to a technology tour at Main Point Karlín, which was named the best office building in the world in 2011.

This year, the organizers have focused more on child visitors, providing worksheets in eight buildings. These include information and tasks that expand vocabulary, lead to observation, and promote creativity. A fun children's program has also been prepared at the Main Train Station, House at Two Golden Bears, and the headquarters of Microsoft.

We are glad that last year's success of the festival convinced more building owners to participate in the Open House festival. Prague truly has a lot to offer in the field of architecture, and we believe that gradually other owners will lose their shyness and distrust,“ said Andrea Šenkyříková.
Most buildings will be open both days of the festival weekend from 10 AM to 6 PM. However, there are some exceptions, so we recommend looking for detailed information in the printed catalog, at www.openhousepraha.cz, or in the mobile application, which will be launched at the end of April for iOS and Android.

The concept of Open House was created in 1992 in London as an effort to strengthen the relationship of the general public to places and cities. The founder, Victoria Thornton, visited Prague last year. Open House Prague 2015 was attended by 38,500 people.
