Nedvědice - Work on the restoration of the lordly garden of Pernštejn Castle in the Brno region has entered its second half. The extensive complex is expected to be completed by September next year, and so far, the work has not encountered any delays and is proceeding according to schedule, said the castle's curator Zdeněk Škrabal to ČTK. The restoration is expected to cost approximately 100 million crowns.

"Currently, large terraces under the former greenhouses are being completed, and the construction of paths from the regular parterre is starting. The hermitage and water elements are already finished, and a significant portion of greenery has been planted. This was done alongside the construction modifications to ensure it takes root before the gardens are completed," described the situation Škrabal.

Workers are gradually moving to the former Chinese garden next to the Chinese pavilion. At the same time, work continues on other construction elements and the fencing.

The lordly ornamental garden at Pernštejn is an architectural complex of a medieval castle, initially supplemented in the Baroque period and later in the late 18th and early 19th centuries with a set of gardens. According to heritage experts, it has no equivalent in the Czech Republic. With the help of European funds, the area will return to its peak form from 200 years ago when it was among the fifteen most important gardens in Moravia and Silesia.

The garden work is being carried out by the company Garden Line, which won the tender. Representatives of the National Heritage Institute and the castle administration inspect the work weekly.

The restoration of the Lordly Ornamental Garden began last January with tree felling.
