Mnichovo Hradiště - Builders have started assembling parts of the footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists over the D10 motorway near Mnichovo Hradiště in the Mladá Boleslav region. Work on installing the central section will restrict traffic on the motorway at night on October 1. The footbridge, which connects the town with the local parts of Dobrá Voda and Lhotice, could be opened for pedestrians and cyclists at the turn of October and November. Martin Weiss informed ČTK about this on behalf of the town today.
"The assembly of the footbridge is underway on both sides of the motorway. On the side from Horky, about a ten-meter section of the footbridge has been installed, and a shorter section has also been installed on the town side," said Weiss. The builders plan to install the central section at night on October 1, with traffic restrictions on the motorway tentatively scheduled from Saturday at 18:00 to Sunday at 10:00. Before installation, the central section will be welded near the construction site, and a large-capacity crane will place it at the site.
The footbridge over the motorway, being constructed since April by the company Brex, will cost approximately 36 million crowns, with most of the expenses covered by the town from a grant from the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure (SFDI). The architectural design of the footbridge was developed by Atelier AP led by architect Josef Pleskot. The town is building the footbridge at a location where a tourist trail was originally interrupted by the construction of the motorway. The arched bridge with a steel structure, approximately 50 meters long, will follow the axis of the historical linden Husova alley. After the completion of the footbridge, plans are in place for its restoration.
The town is also completing the construction of another footbridge, which will connect Mnichovo Hradiště with the municipality of Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou. "This week, the laying of asphalt on the connecting cycle path between the fields on the monastery side will begin, and next week the installation of railings on the footbridge should commence," Weiss stated.
