Prague - The new ČSOB building in Radlice, Prague, for 1,400 bank employees will be built by Hochtief CZ. The building, which will become part of the existing ČSOB headquarters, is expected to be completed within three years. Both the bank and the construction company announced this in a joint press release today. The construction costs were not disclosed.
The new building was designed by the architectural studio Chalupa architekti. The structure will be partially embedded in the slope and the roof will be fully covered with mature greenery again. The original and new buildings will be interconnected.
The building is designed for minimal energy needs and will strive to obtain the "strictest" LEED Platinum certification. The bank will utilize geothermal energy from boreholes and also a ground air heat exchanger that will help reduce dependence on external energy sources, such as gas, said Hochtief spokesperson Michal Talián.
"The ceiling slab will be used for the accumulation and heating or cooling of the spaces. It is also planned to use relatively common energy-saving LED light sources today, and there will be chargers for electric vehicles in the garages," Talián added.
The entire building will be barrier-free, just like the existing headquarters of the bank. Due to its construction, a new elevator will be built from the Radlická metro platform.
ČSOB wants to relocate its bank divisions and subsidiaries, which are currently located in various parts of Prague, to the new headquarters. Due to the planned construction, the bank began selling four other Prague buildings last year.
